scalehbv is an app that helps clinicians screen and counsel patients who may have been exposed to hepatitis B. The app also connects patients with HBV specialists near their home or work address. It has a database of over 300 HBV specialists in the United States, as verified by the Hepatitis B Foundation. It also offers patient and clinician educational materials that clinicians can print directly from their iPhone/iPad (with an Apple AirPrint-enabled printer) or email. SCALE HBV™ was developed by DKBmed to familiarize general practitioners and clinicians with the latest CDC HBV screening and counseling guidelines and to help them link their patients to appropriate care promptly.A key component of the app provides clinicians with an easy way to link patients with local HBV specialists based on patients’ zip code, city or state.Studies have shown that many patients delay care following an HBV diagnosis and that these delays are often associated with worse long-term outcomes. We hope that by offering clinician-customized, point-of-care access to HBV specialists, they will be able quickly refer their patients to care which can lead to better outcomes.
